Well, I guess there is no better way to end a year and start a new one than in a place that means you can only go up! New Year’s eve, Sandra pointed out that every time the compressor for my Heating and Air tried to kick on, all the lights in the house dimmed. I knew this was’t normal…neither was the loud buzzing sound that the compressor made every time that happened. So I called “a guy” who told me that I needed to cut the power off to the compressor, and he would come visit me the first thing in the morning. I was hoping that it would be a circuit board or something simple, so I shut the power off and then went on to my New Year’s celebration over at Hamilton Stables.
The next morning, the HVAC guy came over and looked at my system and told me that compressor had shorted out, and that I needed to replace my system……uh…..what?? I could replace just the outside compressor with a rebuilt one, but then my entire system is still 12 years old….so that was not the road I wanted to take.
On Monday (5 Jan), I will have a couple people come out, and get some quotes, but every one I talked to seems to think it is going to be around 4k to replace the entire system, inside and out……so let’s see what the quotes are and how much of a hole do I get to try and get myself out of at the beginning of the year……oh well.
