Feel the waves crashing over your head,
Your lungs filling with water.
You try and stand on the bottom,
But the ground starts to falter.
The choking, the gasping,
The feeling of being overwhelmed.
As you struggle the water grasps you,
It pulls you down,  you scream, but you hear no sound.
The more you struggle,
The farther down you go.
You hope to feel the bottom,
But the answer is no.
The last breath is taken,
No end is in sight.
Are you less of a man
If you give up the fight?
Succumb to the darkness,
Have no fear.
Who’s going to remember
If you were really here?
What’s your mark on life,
What’s your legacy?
Is it your job,  your friends,
Or maybe it’s your family?
For me is my kids, my wife,
That makes me enjoy my life.
So pick your target,
Prioritize your list.
Take the blade
Away from your wrist.
The bottom will come,
And upwards you will go.
Adversity builds you up,
Stronger you will grow.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.  And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” ~James 1:2-4
