Sandra and I decided to try a “local joint” on the way home from Charlotte.  We took the back way home (I don’t like taking highways…lol),

French Onion Soup and Coffee

so she got to decide where to eat.  She picked a local place in Pinehurst to try…Maxie’s Grill and Tap Room.

Besides it being a little chilly, the server was very friendly, and the insides was welcoming.  A Bar on one side of the room, and a dining area on the other, separated by a half-wall.  TVs played various sports channels, music played through speakers, and locals laughed and talked with the wait staff and bartender (she was wearing a stocking cap and scarf).  This is the kind of place that I would be a regular of, if I lived around here!!

My French Onion Soup was delicious, cheesy, and served hot.  Sandra and I both liked it.

The main course can out hot, and was good to taste.  Sandra stated the taste of the meat in the Black and Blue was overwhelmed by the Blue Cheese and the Gorgonzola.  The Philly was good, tasty, and cheesy.

I would rate this restaurant an overall 8.5 out of 10.  I liked the ambiance, the welcoming atmosphere, and the pleasant wait staff.  The food was good as expected from a bar/tap room.

I would return to this restaurant again!!
