When the first truck arrived on scene the building was fully involved. It took 11 Departments throughout Harnett and Cumberland County, about 65-75 personnel, and 29 Engines, Pumpers, and Tankers to get the fire under control and eventually extinguished. The building was a loss, but we can report that there was no loss of life or even an injury on the fire ground! It took over 6 hours and approximately 75k water to extinguish.

On the way home my pager went off for a small outside fire, that was in between work and home.  So I headed that way

WVFD responds to a small outside fire.

to see if I can offer any assistance.  The fire was confined to an area about 200’x100′, and about 600 gallons of water was used.  The only loss of property was an small, unused well pump house.  It appears the fire was started from the remnants of a burn barrel used the previous day.

Cadillac Escalade Vs School Bus https://greg.trumpfheller.us/2017/10/20/cadillac-escalade-vs-school-bus/ Fri, 20 Oct 2017 20:43:43 +0000 http://greg.trumpfheller.us/?p=12 On Friday, #WestareFireDepartment responded to a head-on accident involving a car and school bus.  The school bus was empty except the driver (thank goodness), and both drivers exited out their vehicles under their own power, but both were transported to the hospital.  We could have had a serious issue if the bus had any children on board, the last ones were dropped off just prior to the accident.  Traffic in both directions on  Ramsey Street between Coats Road and Reeves Bridge Road was rerouted during the incident investigation and cleanup.  North Carolina Schools crews were on scene to assist in the cleanup.  Westarea Fire Department and Fayetteville City Fire Department responded.
