The United States Air Force is celebrating its 77th birthday today! 🎉

The Air Force was officially established on September 18, 1947, following the signing of the National Security Act. This act transformed the US Army Air Forces into an independent branch of the military.

The Department of the Air Force was formally established on Sept. 18, 1947, months after the July 26 signing of the National Security Act.

Where are we going today?

The surface of the earth at the equator moves at a speed of 460 meters per second–or roughly 1,000 miles per hour. As schoolchildren, we learn that the earth is moving about our sun in a very nearly circular orbit. It covers this route at a speed of nearly 30 kilometers per second, or 67,000 miles per hour.

How far is Mars from Earth?


 The answer to that question changes from moment to moment because Earth and Mars are orbiting the Sun.
